GENEVA – William A. Dinan, 97, of William St., passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in Geneva General Hospital. Friends may call at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home, 181 N. Main St., Geneva, on Sunday, November 6, 2016, from 2-5 p.m. Members of the Nester Hose Co. of the Geneva Fire Department will meet at the funeral home at 4 p.m. for a service for their departed brother. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016, in the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in his memory, may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Bill was born in Geneva and was a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late William and Mabel Barnett Dinan. He was retired after 42 years as a machinist at the American Can Co. He was a 76-year member of the Nester Hose Co. of the Geneva Fire Department and was the oldest member of the Nester Hose Co. He was an active member of St. Stephen’s Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and was presently a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish. He is survived by his sons, William A. (Christine) Dinan of Hopkinton, NH, Edward M. (Carol) Dinan of Charleston, NC and Gary P. (Julet) Dinan of Geneva; his daughter, Patricia D. (Thomas) Klementowski of Amherst, NY; ten grandchildren: Jessica (Christian) Torres, Timothy (Lindsey) Dinan, Katherine (John) Dearborn, Megan (Charles) Kirby, Laura Klementowski, Brian Dinan, Ethan Dinan, Stephen Klementowski and Daniel Klementowski; seven great-grandchildren: Anne Dinan, William Dinan, Mason Torres, Max Torres, Emma Torres, John Dearborn and Carolyn Dearborn; his brother, Robert Dinan of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia Murphy Dinan, who died in 2011, his sisters, Theresa Moore and Rita Dinan, and his sister-in-law Mary Alice Dinan.
