GENEVA – Walter P. Van De Mortel, 83, of Geneva passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, in his home. Friends may call at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home., 181 N. Main St., Geneva, on Friday, from 4-7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May, 28, 2016, in St. Francis de Sales Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum. Memorial Contributions, in his memory, may be made to a charity of ones’ choice. Walter was born in Geneva and was a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late Jacob and Nettie Brower Van De Mortel. He was retired from the City of Geneva Water Dept. and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish. He is survived by his wife, Lois; sons: Michael and Richard (Debbie) Van De Mortel both of Geneva; his daughters, Lori (Leo) Manino of Geneva and Linda (Mark) Vacca of VA; sisters Jean Radecker of Endicott, NY and Carol Turner of Waterloo; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Shawn) Lutgens, Michael Manino, Dr. Jacqueline Vacca, Matthew, Josh, Sarah and Jacob Van De Mortel; four great-grandchildren: John Michael Manino, Jade Manino, Alexa and Ryan Lutgens; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Walter P. Van De Mortel Jr., his brothers: Gordon, C., Robert, George, William, Frank Van De Mortel; and his sisters: Theresa Wild, Jane McGhan and Betty Lou Maio.
