January 13, 1932 - March 9, 2012

GENEVA/ROMULUS - Robert B. McCann of White Springs Rd. passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012, in the House of John in Clifton Springs. Friends may call at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home 181 N. Main St., on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. Members of Winnek Post #396 American Legion will meet at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home for a service for their departed brother. Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 in the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church. Burial with full military honors will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Holy Cross Cemetery P. O. Box 337, Ovid, NY 14521; Romulus Foundation for Educational Opportunities 5705 Main St., Romulus, NY 14521( www.romulusfoundation.org); or to the House of John 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, NY 14432. Bob was born in Geneva and has resided here most of his life. He was the son of the late Arthur and Helen McNamara McCann. He was a graduate of DeSales High School and spent over twenty years in the US Air Force where he served his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring with a rank of Major. Following his retirement from Service he was employed for several years with the Savings Bank of the Finger Lakes and Horizon Bank and the NY State Thruway. He was a member of the Winnek Post #396 American Legion, the Retired Officers Association, a supervisor on the Board of the Finger Lakes Federal Credit Union, Past member of Romulus Board of Education, a member of the Foundation for Educational Opportunities of Romulus, was an active member of Holy Cross Church in Ovid, where he was a Eucharistic minister and a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Geneva. He is survived by is son: Robert of Romulus; two sisters: Catherine Clark of Bethseda, MD, Sister Margaret O'Connor RSM of Dallas, PA; his granddaughter Catherine McCann, three sisters-in-law: Carolyn (Donald) Heinzman of Geneva, Patricia Weber of Gainesville, GA and Sally McCann of Jacksonville Florida, long time friends Anna Marie Cafolla and the Cafolla and Bruno families. Several Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by his wife: Mary Ann McCann, two brothers: James and Richard McCann and his stepmother: Helen Rafferty McCann. .
