SENECA FALLS - Larry W. VanHorn 67, of Lower Lake Rd., passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. Friends may call at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home, 181 N. Main St., Geneva, on Friday, July 18, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 in the funeral home. The Rev. W. James Gerling, will officiate. Burial will be in Canoga Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Following the burial a reception will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Abigails Restaurant on Rts. 5& 20. Memorial contributions, in his memory, may be made to Pathway Home P. O. Box 516, Seneca Falls, NY 13148. Larry was born in Seneca Falls and was a lifelong resident of this area. He was the son of the late Alonzo "Pop" and Mabel Decker VanHorn. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a truck driver and equipment operator for several companies including Colgate Science Diet in Rochester and retired from Kelsey Contsruction. He was a member of Kirk Casey Post American Legion in Seneca Falls and while spending winters in Florida was a member of the Moose and VFW in Ft. Myers Fl. He loved playing golf, fishing on Cayuga Lake and Hunting with his son Wes and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren. Larry will be missed by all who knew him especially his wife, Darlene; sons, Corey J. (Sherry) VanHorn of Farmington, MN, Scott J. (Susan) Buck of Seneca Falls, Daniel A. (Colleen) Buck of Seneca Falls and Westley A. VanHorn of Seneca Falls; his daughters, Lisa M. (Tim) Rease of Seneca Falls, and Wendi J. (Jayson) Perez of Auburn; nine grandchildren, Jerrod and Abigail VanHorn, Jordan and Maranda Marr, Easton Rease, Caroline and Cassidy Buck, Jacob and Samantha Milliord and Several Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
