GENEVA – Eldon “Jim” Olschewske, 95, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. There will be no prior calling hours. A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2015, in the West Fayette Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in West Fayette Cemetery. Memorial Contributions, in his memory, may be made to the Winnek Post # 396 American Legion. Jim was born in October 1, 1919 in Seneca Falls, NY. He was the son of the late Louis and Ethel Nuhn Olschewske. He graduated from Waterloo High School in 1937 and attended RIT in Rochester for two years. He was employed for 38 years at the American Can Co. of Geneva. He worked in the machine shop for 20 years and 18 years in the engineering dept., retiring in 1975. He served his country in the U S Navy during World War II. He played pro baseball for many years and played three months with the Geneva Red Legs in the 1940’s. He was a member of the West Fayette Presbyterian Church of MacDougall and a member of Winnek Post # 396 American Legion. He is survived by his son, Thomas (Joan) Olschewske of Fairport and four grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor, Stephen Olschewske, Lindsay Varley and Andrew Olschewske and seven great grandchildren.
