GENEVA - Bernice F. Matuzas, 94, of Sunny Hills, Fla., formerly of Geneva, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, May 5, 2011. There will be no prior calling hours. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 in St. Mary's Cemetery, Geneva. The Rev. Paul Tomasso will officiate. Bernice was born in Chicago, Ill. On May 14, 1916 and resided in Geneva for many years before moving to Florida. Bernice along with her late husband, Mecislaus, were restaurant owners in Geneva; First of Clark's Diner and then the well-known Pumpernickel Restaurant. She was a dedicated volunteer serving as a hospital "Pink Lady" both in Geneva and Chipley, Fla. She is survived by her two daughters: Diane (Dennis) Vitale and Mary Gene (William)Smith all of Fla; two grandchildren: Michael Markham and Jessica Markham; three great grandchildren: Morgan Keene, Isaiah Markham and Maddox Markham.
